Upcoming screening of WOMENstruate 30th of May 2022

The first official in person screening of WOMENstruate, the documentary filmed in 4-7 days the same as an average menstrual cycle will take place at the Lumiére Cinema in the Netherlands for World Menstrual Hygiene Day. The film begins at 19:00 and is 52 minutes in running time, immediately followed by a discussion between documentary director Lauren Anders Brown and Dr Pierre Thomas Assistant Professor FHML Institute for Public Health Genomics at Maastricht University. Additionally included in the discussion is Praachi Kumar, an Economist experienced in development research, public policy analysis, programme evaluation and advocacy. A former development practitioner and researcher for gender equality and women’s rights, she is currently pursuing a PhD Fellowship in Innovation, Economics and Governance for Development at the United Nations Univeristy - MERIT and Maastricht University.

The Lumiére Cinema is in the beautifully restored monumental power station of the Old Sphnix factories. It screens up to 300 arthouse films a year from around the world, with the programme equally divided between smaller independent films and slightly more mainstream fare. The day WOMENstruate screens so does Downton Abby. But the emphasis is on film authors, indie-favourites and film festival hits catering to a dedicated audience of cinephiles and casual filmgoers alike. There's a Restaurant Cafe serving food and drinks 7 days a week and when the sun is out like it has been the water-front terrace is the perfect place to catch the sun before heading into the cinema.
